Côte d'Azur

Where to Stay:

CANNES area

  • Carlton Cannes - the most iconic hotel on the croisette. Recently renovated, ultra glamourous. If you don’t want to stay here you can buy day passes to their beach club (highly suggest).

  • Martinez - another iconic on the main road. Part of the Hyatt hotel group so it can be easy to redeem points here.

  • Le Majestic - the third iconic hotel on the main road. Part of the Barrier hotel group (owns Foquets NYC). Pretty rooms with ocean views.

  • Hôtel Barrière Le Gray d'Albion -part of the Barrier hotel group (owns Foquets NYC). A little off the main road, no frills but good clean rooms and more reasonably priced than the other hotels noted.

  • Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc - very iconic hotel in Antibes ( 20 min drive from Cannes), lots of history, glam and very sceney (both the people and the setting).

MONACO area

  • Hôtel de Paris - the nicest hotel in the center of Monaco, recently renovated.

  • Hôtel Hermitage - in the center of Monaco, nice rooms, old world charm.

  • Hotel Metropole -in the center of Monaco, nice pool.

  • Maybourne Riviera - new hotel, with gorgeous views overlooking the ocean, a little removed from town but the views make it worth it.

  • Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferrat - iconic Four Seaons hotel, a 20 min drive from Monaco, I prefer to stay here versus in Monaco- the property is a nice resort, better for couples and families.

  • Château de la Chèvre d’Or - one of the most beautiful settings in the South of France, located in Eze, about 15 min drive from Monaco, I would definitely go for lunch or a drink if you don’t stay here.

What to wear- Women:

  • For day if you are going to a beach club a bathing suit and coverup or a cute skirt and top set are on point- think Missoni or Pucci vibe. If you are going somewhere else for lunch or to Eden Roc Grill think chic French girl (shop my Revolve edit here or FWRD edit here ).

  • For night think elegant, sexy and chic. Wear something summery and glamorous -think a silk dress and some Rene Caovilla heels.

  • See my Euro Summer shopping suggestions here

What to wear- Men:

  • For daytime its a bathing suit and t-shirt or linen shirt with a nice sandal or Loro Piana Summer Walks.

  • For night I love nice linen pants or shorts with a linen top. Other options are khaki or white pants with a polo shirt and Loro Piana Summer Walks ( which is basically my euro summer uniform for men ;) or if you are in Monaco / want to dress up more a suit, dress shirt and Loro Piana Summer Walks or a nice loafer.

Getting there:

  • Take a direct flight from NYC to Nice or go via London or Paris (if you want to stop over).

  • Uber is readily available in Cannes / Nice / Eze. Only taxis are allowed in Monaco so try to connect with a driver to pick you up or ask a hotel to call one if needed. There is really no need to rent a car. Getting around Cannes is easy, Monaco is hilly but can be walkable or take a taxi.

Good to note:

  • Going in mid May for the Cannes Film Festival / Monaco Grand Prix is a really fun lively time to be there. It is also quiet crowded and difficult to get a hotel.
